Suites d’epoca

“My charming little house lies on the avenue of acacias, wisteria and lilacs near the railway where everything tastes like vanilla”.

Suites d’Epoca, consisting of two completely independent suites with two different entrances, is a late 19th century house located in Saint Spirito, an ancient fishing village close to Bari, in Corso Umberto I, a few steps from the rail cross of the Adriatic railway line, which connects the village to the national road 16 bis , a strategic junction to reach any destination in Puglia.

The house is located in a tactical position, 6 km (about 3,8 miles) from the Karol Wojtyla Bari-Palese airport, 200 m (about 220 yards) from the Saint Spirito rail station of and 500 m (about 550 yards) from the sea, in one of the oldest and most characteristic roads.

In this street, that connect the town of Bitonto to the sea, you can still admire ancient villas and manors, builded by famous architects the nineteenth century for the Bitontine Aristocracy as vacation homes.

The abandonment was the precious custodian of my house for almost half a century and prevented its reconstruction, took it away from modernization and freezed the time passage, to deliver it intact in its historical characteristics to the present.

A skillful renovation and a careful restoration completed the miracle, and here is what “Suites d’Epoca” offers: all the modern services in a location of the past, making the perfect balance between long holidays or fleeting stays.

The house consist of two suites, Ambrosia and Aurora; both are equipped with living room, bed room, kitchenette and bathroom, with wide stone walls, vintage original floors with different geometric designs in every room, original fixtures, high barrel vaults and cross vaults, embellished in the each living room by wonderful allegorical frescoes with flowers and sweet dames, a hymn to spring, attributed to the painter Antonio Lanave (Bari, 1878-1953) and his collaborators.

Not far, in the background, you can reach the small Saint Spirito harbour, with its characteristic fishing boats and beautiful moored boats, and its seafront promenade from Giovinazzo to Palese with beaches, bars and restaurants overlooking the sea.
